Between Two Ends Narritive


We had to retell the story of between two ends from another character point of view. I did it from Williams point of view, he is the father of Yeats who is the main character.

We made a treasure chest and a pirate ship out of nets that we made in my group there was Nadini,Aliah and Me. It was hard to make the treasure chest but a bit easier to make the pirate ship.

Term 4 Week 6

Over the last few weeks i have been doing...                   
   
Miss Terry - We have had a student teacher named Miss Terry she is amazing because she teached us really cool fun games that we wanted to play every brain break. She left last Friday witch was sad but she's coming for a visit this Friday Yay!             

Dance - We have started doing dance lessons to practice for the end of year dinner&dance. There are couple dancing whole group dancing and a circle group dance. 

Swimming - This term we started swimming, there are two groups the confident swimmers and the non confident. I am in the confident group we go swimming every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday we go with the other group and play games and have free time.

Brain Breaks - Miss Terry our student teacher showed us this really fun game called Toilet Flush Tag, its kinda like stuck in the mud. There is one tagged (or more) and the rest of the people run around, if the taggers tag you you have to put your hands out one on top of the other )but with a gab in between) and then another person has to come and flush you (by putting your hands together) and then you can stand up and run around again and try not to get tagged.

We have been writing a narrative about our class book Between Two Ends and this was my 3 box planning sheet. For the first box we had to write in things that had happened in that chapter, In the second slot we wrote about what the main character (Yeats) was doing and in the third box we wrote about what our character was doing My character was William (The father of Yeats). I found it hard to write about what my character was doing cause we had no information about him because the main character is Yeats not William. I found it easy to write the summary cause we have a class chapter summary for when we read each chapter.

Term 4 Week 1


Over the last few years Ii have been doing...

Between To Ends-This is a new book that we have started reading. I like this book because it is interesting and a bit funny. We have been reading this book over this whole week.

Ballad Writing-This week we started to do some writing called a ballad writing. I have never learnt how to write like this before so i really enjoyed the writing process. It is fun because you have to rhyme the words.

We have not done much things this week cause its the first week back at school.

Auckland Landscape Painting


This is our painting that we did of Auckland skyline.
Here are the steps we did it in:
  • Painted the sunset top.
  • Let it dry.
  • Painted the water bottom.
  • Mixed some white into the blue.
  • Let it dry.
  • Looked at some Auckland skyline silhouettes.
  • Drew a skyline into our art book.
  • Drew it onto black paper.
  • Glue the silhouette onto our painting.
  • Then we where done!

We have made a information report about saving the Marine Life.
In our report we have slides abut Overfishing, Gyres, Oil Spills and Nurdles and then we have our intro and conclusion

Term 3 Week 1

Over the last few weeks I have been doing...

Bike Skills-This term we have stared doing bike skills so every Wednesday we go out to the netball courts or the field (if its not muddy) This week we played a game called the Box Game so first every rides around in a box shape round the courts (we had to go on the courts this week cause the field was to muddy) but anyway so we stared with the whole court then they made it smaller and smaller in till we had the last two people going in like a line box shape. I was one of the last 3 people but then i got out. You get out when you put your feet on the ground so if your riding and you put your feet off the pedals and on the ground your out. That was a fun game but we also learnt how to keep us safe on a bike, we also checked our tired in case they needed more air and we also checked our breaks.

Art-We have started a new art piece this term and it is Wild Flowers. So what we do is we have our piece of paper to draw on a sheet with things on it and a dice. First you roll a dice and i the number is 4 you draw the forth circle that is in the first row then you do the petals, the stem and so on. I have really enjoyed this art piece cause its really fun my next step is to die my art. There is a picture of the sheet with the things you have to draw on your piece of paper you should try it out its really fun.

Speech Planer Blank

This is my speech planer that i made.
To make this i had to do two parts for the Intro of my speech three parts for the Body of my speech and i had to make a Conclusion. In the intro of my speech i had to have two parts. In the first part i had to have question a shocking fact and a story. In part two i had to have my three reasons. In each of the body parts for my speech i had to have my reason and three facts. In the conclusion i had to have a call to action and it had to connect to the intro of my speech.

Term Week 7

Over the last few weeks i have been doing...

SDL-SDL is when you need to self manage your learning. Each week the teacher gives us new tasks that we have to complete over the whole week. There are always big and small tasks you have to do. The big tasks are ones you HAVE to complete but the small tasks are the others and you do those when you have done all the big tasks. There are always 3 big tasks and normally 5 or 6 small tasks to do. 

Netball-I have joined the B team for netball. We have played some games against other schoools. Its really fun being in the netball team. So far we have played 2 games. Sadly we did not win but that is okay because its all about having fun.

Terrific Tuesday-At school we have started something called Terrific Tuesday. My Terrific Tuesday group is Japanese.  In Japanese we learn how to write some Japanese,we play Japanese games,we paint some Japanese Kanji and practice writing it. We also learnt how to do some origami. It is really fun at Japanese for Terrific Tuesday.

Grid Value Portrait

I have finished my grid value portrait. I think it looks really cool. A grid value portrait is when you copy off a picture and you make the picture on a bigger piece of paper by using light and dark patterns. You do this by drawing in each little square one by one till you are all done. Then it looks like the picture but you only used light and dark patterns in your squares. 

We had to do this art in this order:

  • We talked about Chuck Close (He first made the art).
  • We took our pencil for a walk.
(Taking a pencil for a walk is when you have your pice of paper and you let your pencil walk around the paper making shapes in all sizes and shapes)
  • We practised some light and dark patterns we could use.
(To make the light and dark patterns we did our patterns far and close away so they would space out and make light patterns or they would be close together to make dark patterns).
  • Got in a good pose for a photo.
  • Then we had to print the photo.
  • Then we drew the grid on the photo and paper.
  • We looked at one square and focused on it. 
  • Then we started drawing in the one square using our light and dark patterns.
The hardest part was trying not to draw the whole head and body shape at once and trying to do it one by one.
The easiest part was getting in a good pose for the photo and drawing the grid onto the photo.

Term 2 Week 2

Over the last few weeks i have been doing...

Solar System-We have been learning about the Solar System for our inquiry. Our main focus is on: hat would happen if e could not live on earth any more.

Solar System Hunt-We had a hunt about the Solar System and we had to answer questions about the Solar System and we learnt lots of facts about the Solar System. There where 15 questions but our teacher forgot to put out 5 of them.

Movie-We watch the movie Wall-e. It was interesting and funny. If you have not watched the movie i recommend it to you to watch. Its so cool and funny.

Ruby-Today we had our first lesson of ruby. We played some games and the showed us some cool things. One of the games we played was there was a zombie and the rest of us had to try and run to the other side of the square and if you got tagged you became a zombie.

Holiday Camercle




We have made a Camercle about what to do in the holidays with your kid. We had to use some techniques in our Camercle. My group used the Emotional Appeal technique in our Camercle.
THEESE ARE THE PERSUASIVE TECHNIQUES:
Slogan: A slogan is a catchy phrase used to make the add more interesting
Repetition: You use a word over and over again
Testimonial: A customer that tells comments about your work.
Bandwagon: Making people want to be apart of it and not miss out.
Expert Opinion: An expert's point of view
Emotional Appeal: Making the audience feel emotional.

Term 1 Week 10

Over the last weeks i have been doing...

Pixel Art-We have stared a new art PIXEL ART. It is when you have to make a pitcher out of tiny little squares.

Easter Egg Hunt-At school we had a Easter egg hunt were we had to go and find the clues and at the end you had to make a word. My group came first so we got a block of chocolate and some eater eggs. YAY!

Science-We have done some research on science this week and we had to write about a sentience. Then we had to make a poster with a quote on it.

Term 1 Week 7

Over the last few weeks I have been doing...
  • Art-last time I talked about how we are using close and far away patterns and how it was really fun and cool. Well now i'm nearly done my art. I think it looks really cool with all the different patterns. 


  • Reading Challenge-we are doing a reading challenge were you have to read 20 books over the year. We have to read 5 books every term and there are 4 terms.





  • Writing-we have been learning how to write a explanation. Our explanation is going to be about the different roles in the Maori culture and why females always stand at the back at a powhiri. 
  • Buddy class-we have now got a buddy class. (room 17) With our buddy class we teach them some cool things to do on a computer and we have a garden that we plant things in.

  • Ukulele-this year I have joined the ukulele group. Last year I was in it as well. I have my own ukulele and I know how to play. Last year we went to a festival called Kiwileles. I enjoyed it a lot,it is when you go with your school ukulele group and plzy lots of songs. Yo can also buy things like badges,ukulele straps(I got one its back) I would love to go again this year.


  • Reading-we are reading the whale rider. I am finding it cool,funny and interesting. We are probably half way through the book now.

My Reflection:
I was learning to write a explanation because we are reading the whale rider book.
I felt happy because it was very easy and I like to write.
I found it easy because we had learnt lots of facts before we stared to write our explanation.
Next time I need to work on finding out more facts about my topic.

Bias In The Whale Rider Chapter 8


We have been learning what bias means in class.
I have highlighted all the parts in the Whale Rider chapter 8 that Koro Apirana has been bias to Kahu.
I have highlighted those parts because it shows he is being bias because he thinks he should not love her because she is a girl not a boy and she is the oldest grandchild.
Koro Apirana will not love her because she is a girl and not a boy and in his family the oldest child is always going to be a chief.
In Koro Apiranas family all the leaders have been a boy and no girls have ever been a leader so he thinks that Kahu sould not be a chief even thought she is the oldest grandchild. But on Nanny Flowers side she has had a female leader so she is okay with Kahu being a chief when she grows up.
Bias is only listening to one side of the story. It can be forms of racism,sexism or other culture beflifes. It can involve people forming stereotypes.

My Reflection:

I found it easy to identify the biased parts in the chapter because we talked a lot about what bias means in class so I new more about what bias meant.  
Next time I need to work on finding more biased parts in the chapter because I only got 3.



Cryptarithms

We have made a video showing the things we have learnt.
I have been learning Cryptarithms for a math active that we were doing.
At the start it was hard but then it got easier.
I was working with a budding and that helped me because we could work together and solve them together.
Next time I have to work on solving more of them.

Term 1 Week 5

Hello,
Today I will be telling you what I have been doing over the past 4 weeks at school. So lets begin,
  • Art-We are making a portraits of our self by using close and far away patterns to make it light and dark. I'm finding this very cool and fun

  • Making music with our body-We have been making music with our body that means using our mouths,hands,fingers and feet. This active is very fun!!!!

  • Cryptirythms- We have been solving a type of math problems with the numbers as letters. At first i found this hard but now its easy.

  • Youth Town-Every week youth town has come to our school and they have been teaching us cool new sports and games. We have played capture the ball(pretty much capture the flag but instead of a flag you use a ball)
